Utility Apron

Aprons have become a part of my daily life as a crafter, mother and cook! I always need more pockets than I have and I am forever losing the last place I put my phone/ scissors/ pins/ brain; then I discovered the beauty of a utility apron! It keeps me organized while jumping projects, like juggling sewing, cooking, housework and children, and keeps my scissors and pins tucked safely away from curious little hands.

I could imagine a lot of occupations this could facilitate, gardening, holding cash as a vendor at a farmer's market, photography, makeup artist, hair stylist. The list goes on. And bonus- it looks awesome while wearing!

I will be posting the pattern as well soon, very inexpensive, so if you have moderately decent sewing skills this would be a good project.

Green Tea Magic

Another recipe! Are you dreaming of summer right about now? Well, this is the time of year when I start looking for things to brighten my mood and cleanse the drab feelings from my body brought on by a cold, wet winter. This recipe has made my afternoon tea time my new happy place! I make this both hot and cold:

For hot tea:
-Brew 8 oz of your favorite green tea, I really like something fruity with this in particular, like ginger peach.
-Add 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar (I really prefer Braggs).
-And 1-2 tsp of honey.

For iced:
-Brew 2 tea bags in 8 oz of water.
-Add 1 and 1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar.
-And 2-3 tsp of honey (or a bit more, as is my preference)
-Pour over a glass of ice.

I recommend following up with a good yoga routine to really kick the butt on those winter blues, revitalize and energize!

This is also excellent for when you have a cold or the flu!

Quinoa Veggie Salad

I recently put together this recipe as a lunch or afternoon pick-me-up and I am head over heels for the taste and benefits! Quite simple and quick to make and versatile, can be eaten by itself or as a side dish, I've put it over over a salad in replacement of dressing and one of my favorites is using a piece of bread or pita to scoop and eat it with. However you choose to serve it I'm sure you will like it. Go ahead and give it a try, let me know what you think!

4 cups cooked quinoa
1-2 Avocado (depending on how much you like avocados)
3-4 plum tomatoes
1 bell pepper (orange or yellow are good)
1 large handful of fresh spinach (optional)
1/2 cup olive oil
2 tsp salt (use good sea salt)
3 Tbs balsamic vinegar
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 Tbs dried basil (or a good handful of fresh if you have it)

1.Cook your quinoa ahead of time and let it cool to room temperature  2.Chop all the vegetables fine  3.Mix in the oil, vinegar, and spices with the vegetables  4. Mix in the quinoa.

You're good to go! Enjoy!
